Lydden Hill Race Circuit and Trucksport UK are excited to announce a new initiative for 2020: Truck Rallycross
The home of rallycross will include Truck racing next year, with the first rallycross truck, a DAF–CF ready to go. All trucks will be prepared to the same specification and performance for the new initiative.
The two axle tractor unit rallycross specification trucks will have around 700bhp and include all the safety features of a modern day race truck. Costs will be controlled by not using the same high tech chassis and suspension systems, twisted axles and super high performance race engines that are now used in European truck racing.
The first new rallycross truck was tested at MIRA two weeks ago and compared well in its performance against a modern Class A race truck.
Trucksport UK’s Stuart Oliver said, “We plan to have 12 trucks in rallycross split into three groups of four to produce a fantastic spectacle, with a number of heats and a grand final. It’s early days, but we plan to run a series that includes races on three race circuits and two rallycross circuits, which would be something very different to anything currently happening anywhere in the world.”
More details will be released soon, and a demonstration of the new rallycross truck is planned to take place at Lydden Hill alongside the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship round on Bank Holiday August 26. Tickets are available online at https://bit.ly/2u9t65s from only £12 with 13's and under coming in free!
