The pinnacle of the sport last raced at the Kent venue in 2017, but having switched to a brand-new era of all-electric cars at the top level, will now return to the circuit that hosted the first-ever rallycross event on February 4 1967, joining renowned venues such as Holjes in Sweden, Hell in Norway and Cape Town in South Africa on the 10-round calendar, as announced by the FIA World Motor Sport Council today [December 7].

Lydden Hill has undergone significant developments since World RX last raced at the venue, including changes to the track.

The re-profiled opening corner has increased overtaking opportunities in events run on the revised layout so far, while the large jump in the first half of the lap has added a third dimension to the challenge for drivers, and a spectacular sight for the fans.

The 2022 World Rallycross Championship was won by Swede Johan Kristoffersson, followed by former champion Timmy Hansen and Finn Niclas Gronholm. The World RX grid of 500kW, four-wheel-drive electric cars is expected to increase for 2023, while other on track racing action will also take place at Lydden Hill across the weekend.

What classes will be racing over the weekend?

RX1 - The pinnacle of the World Championship. Fully electric, four wheel-drive, twin motor rocketships producing 500kW (equivalent to 680bhp) and 880Nm of torque.

RX2e - The first-ever FIA electric rallycross championship when it was launched in 2021, showcasing controlled-spec, one-make, four wheel-drive cars providing a pathway to the top of the sport for aspiring rallycross stars.

Period, Retro & Group B Demonstrations - In a stark contrast to the high-tech, all electric World RX cars we'll be welcoming iconic classics from the 80's and 90's to demonstrate what rallycross was really like before the change in the millennium. See the likes of the Ford RS200, Audi Quattro, Metro 6R4 and so much more in spectacular demo races on both Saturday and Sunday!

5 Nations BRX Supercars - Traditional rallycross supercars competing in the headline Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Supercar category feature 600 HP highly-modified internal combustion turbo-charged engines, four-wheel-drive transmissions and accelerate from 0-60 mph in under two seconds.

Do you offer a discount on children's tickets?

Yes, all kids 13 & under enter the circuit free of charge for both admission and camping.

Am I able to camp at the circuit?

Yes, we have limited spots available to camp over the weekend, with weekend camping tickets available online (Tickets are per person)

There is no electrical hookup in the camping field. Showers, toilets and food outlets will be open all weekend.

Camping is available Friday & Saturday night only, there is no public camping on Sunday night.
