Andrew Jordan and Father Mike Jordan enter Historics on the Hill this Spring Bank holiday Monday (May 27)

21 May, 2019

Fresh from winning two races in the third weekend of the British Touring Car Championship on Sunday, former BTCC Champion Andrew Jordan will race in the inaugural HRDC ‘Historics on the Hill’ event next week at Lydden Hill on Spring Bank Holiday Monday (May 27).

Within a mix of eclectic cars racing at the event, Jordan will share an Austin A40 with father Mike, himself also a former BTCC front-runner, the pair competing in a race each with the car prepared by their JRT Historic race team.

Andrew Jordan is no stranger to Lydden Hill, having won a round of the British Rallycross Championship at the circuit in 2007, and finished on the podium in the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Kent, in 2014, but racing a Historic car at the circuit will be all-new for the 29-year old.

“We’ve only raced this particular car once before and I’m really looking forward to driving it at Lydden, hopefully we get some nice bank holiday weather,” said Jordan. “I think the last time I drove on the full circuit at Lydden was in 2006, when I did a track day in Will Gollop’s Ford Focus Supercar and I’m excited to drive around there again.”

Regular competitors in Historic events, the Jordan family has an impressive record of success in period machinery. “The HRDC put on some great races with a great atmosphere, so I think for people heading to Lydden to watch there will be good a variety of cars that probably aren’t seen so often at Lydden, with full grids and lots of overtaking,” said Jordan. “If I’m honest this is one of the events I’ve been most looking forward to this year, I think it will be nice and relaxed at a great little circuit that holds a lot of good memories for me.”

Five classes; HRDC ‘Allstars’, HRDC ‘Coys 100 Trophy’, HRDC ‘Touring Greats’, HRDC ‘A-Series Challenge’ and the HRDC ‘Stars of Lydden’ will form the structure of the event, run by Lydden Hill Race Circuit and Lydden Hill Motorsport Club, which will also include trackside street food and bars, kids’ entertainment, classic and historic car displays and more.

If you have a classic or historic car you would like to display, we would love to hear from you at info@lyddenhill.co.uk. As a bonus, anyone driving through the gates in a classic car gets a 50% discount on their entry ticket.
