Lydden Hill Race Circuit will host one of the oldest motorcycle events in the UK

19 September, 2019

Lydden Hill Race Circuit will host one of the oldest motorcycle events in the UK on October 26th – 27th with the legendary Lord of Lydden and Sidecar burnup extravaganza.

The event first ran in 1966, and was revived by LHMC after a 10-year sabbatical in 2018.

Last year victory was claimed by former Moto3 and Classic TT rider Danny Webb, who won on his Suzuki GSX-R1000, a very different machine to the Manx Norton ridden to victory by Charlie Sanby in the original event.

Multiple World Sidecar Champion Tim Reeves and passenger Mark Wilkes were victorious in the last year’s Sidecar burnup and the reigning champions, along with Webb, are set to return to the Kent circuit this October, joined by a host of big-name riders in the quest to claim the coveted laurels.

Racing over the weekend will include Production 400’s, MZ’s, BSSO Scooters, Supertwins, the Open class, F1 & F2 Sidecars, Classic Sidecars and Yamaha 600cc Production, in addition to action from Fab Racing with riders as young as eight-years old fighting to steal the crown from the current Junior Lord, 11-year-old Casey O Gorman.

Former Lord of Lydden star Phil Read will be on hand to start the final race and be part of the trophy presentations.

Limited places are available for riders to compete in the legendary event where they can win a share of the £2500 prize money, and can battle for a chance to be crowned as the next Lord of Lydden, with the fastest 32 qualifiers on the day from the Supertwins and Open categories challenging for the biggest prize.
