Heikkinen and Hansen will battle again – 27th & 28th July

Heikkinen and Hansen first Titans RX Europe winners ahead of Lydden Hill weekend

The first ever rounds of Titans RX Europe were held at Essay in France last weekend, and now all eyes in the series turn to rounds three and four at Lydden Hill Race Circuit on July 27th / 28th.
Finnish star Toomas Heikkinen – known as ‘Topi’ – won round one on Saturday and was third in round two on Sunday in the new single specification Pantera RX6 cars. He is at the top of the Championship points ahead of the second weekend on the schedule at the ‘Home of Rallycross’. Victory in round two on Sunday was claimed by Swedish driver Timmy Hansen, the 2019 World Rallycross Championship leader and son of 14 time European Rallycross Champion Kenneth Hansen.

For the first time since 2017, international rallycross will return to Lydden Hill this month, the oldest rallycross circuit in the world. Heikkinen is looking forward to racing in Kent.

“Is has been my main target to win this series since Max Pucher [Titans RX Europe founder] told me about it at the beginning of 2018. It has been a long journey to this point and when you see the driver line up this year it’s crazy,” he said. “Lydden is a bit of a different kind of track to Essay. It’s so wide, it’s much faster and I think it is one of the best tracks to overtake. With no joker lap it’s going to be five cars going into this crazy first corner which can be pretty nice. Then after that is a long straight. I haven’t had so much luck at Lydden before but now I hope the bad luck stays away and I can do my own race.”

Heikkinen leads former Motorsport UK Junior Rallycross Champion Kevin Hansen by just one point in Titans RX after the opening two rounds at Essay. “Lydden has a nice history and I think there can be a pretty amazing crowd. I’m looking forward to it,” said Heikkinen.

The 2019 Titans RX Europe line up includes former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet Jnr and World Rally stars Hayden Paddon and Craig Breen. From the Lydden Hill weekend, 2013 BTCC Champion and Lydden Hill World RX podium finisher Andrew Jordan will join the fray. He missed the first weekend in France due to racing in the BTCC at Oulton Park, where he finished on the podium in two of the three races.

The Lydden Hill Titans RX Europe weekend will also include support races for British Rallycross Championship Supercars, Group B, Retro Rallycross and Junior Rallycross.
