Lydden Hill Race Circuit is delighted to announce the first instalment of its 2020 schedule, including some of the biggest rallycross events in the country, fantastic Historic and Classic events for both bikes and cars along with the kind of one-off events you can only experience at this wonderful Kent venue.
The year will begin with the first of two Winter RX Series on the 18th January attracting all levels of Rallycross drivers from both the British and BTRDA Championships along with a strong entry from overseas.
The summer season will kick off with the opening round of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy on Easter Bank Holiday weekend, April 12th / 13th, before the widely acclaimed ‘The first show of the year’ annual BHP Performance Show on May 2nd / 3rd, the leading performance, motorsport, and modified car show in the south of England.
At the end of May, Saturday 30th, the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship will return as it has done for the last two years to provide plenty close entry-level action, before the first historic meeting of the year in July.
The Historic’s on the Hill event, featuring the Historic Racing Drivers Club will once again feature a range of legendary period car classes on July 4th, and is again expected to attract some big names to celebrate American independence day at Lydden Hill. An assembly of hot rods, classics and historic cars will reunite off track with anyone attending the event in a classic or historic car entering half price.
The B19 Sprint will use Lydden Hill’s famous amphitheatre layout on July 11th after attracting an eclectic mix of over 100 cars in 2019, before The Bike Shed Festival takes place on August 1st / 2nd, a weekend long celebration of retro and modern café racers and motorcycles. Bikes remain the theme for another new addition for 2020 on August 15th / 16th with Classic Bike Track days, providing a friendly track weekend for pre-2000 bikes with riders of all experience levels welcome. (www.classicbiketrackdays.com)
Rallycross will return for the fifth round of the headline Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy for its traditional August Bank Holiday event on August 30th / 31st, before the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross series also returns on September 12th.
The legendary Lord of Lydden event will take place in at the end of October 2020 . The 2019 event which attracted over 150 riders competing across the weekend with a star-studded bumper line up, and saw BSB superstock rider Tom Ward take the crown as Lord of Lydden and 8 times World Champion Tim Reeves with passenger Mark Wilkes become sidecar champions for two consecutive years. The 2020 event is sure to exceed the years before with an expected increase in riders coming to battle for the £2500 prize money.
As the nights draw in, Motormania on November 7th will showcase a variety of motorsport throughout the day followed by night time motorsport display, along with fireworks for all the family, but the racing action will continue into the festive period with the final 2 rounds of the Winter RX Series.
All events will continue to offer locally sourced street food and additional off track entertainment, with VIP opportunities also available for some events at Lydden Hill.
